Gungrave: Overdose (2004, Sony PlayStation 2) Gameplay Footage with No Audio Commentary

As I prepare to playthrough Gungrave VR I’ve been revisiting the PlayStation 2 (PS2) games. Playing through the first game was like visiting an old friend. I remember playing through Gungrave: Overdose and not liking it as much as the first but now as I revisit it so many years later I can now appreciate what they tried with it. The first game felt dark and kinda twisted but Overdose went in a bit of a lighter direction and also attempted to fix the clunky controls. I still feel like the weight of the character of Gungrave was lost my losing the clunky controls feel but the updated controls were a nice upgrade. I also totally forgot the majority of the story with the exception of near the ending. There were a couple of points where the difficuly spiked but overall the game felt pretty fair. What I love about this game is that after beating the game with Gungrave you unlock two more characters to playthrough. I will likely playthrough the game with both of the additional characters. This is what I loved about the PS2 era of gaming. You could easily beat a game in an afternoon. You don’t have to chip away at it an hour or so here or there over several weeks to months.
