Retaliation against 3 Red Skull Nightmare opponents (what I save my Tactical Boots for) remains best source of rewards, but the frequency of getting attacked fresh which allows Retaliate option has gone down as my level has gone up. At least the Defends from people that tried to Retaliate (which you can't Retaliate against) are still giving some free rewards.

Note: I had to do a Retry on the Retaliation (cost 30 Gold which I recovered from the Daily Ration).
