0Alex takes us to Dr. Kleiner's makeshift lab, where we reunite with Barney. Dr. Kleiner sends Alex through a teleporter to her father, Dr. Eli Vance. He is set up in a new research and resistance facility called Black Mesa East, which is where we are headed. When we try to teleport, Kleiner's pet head-crab, Lamarr, interferes with the process, which results in us teleporting about 30 feet away from our initial position, but outside of the lab. Barney tells us to make our way to Black Mesa East on foot by following the underground railroad through the canals of City 17. He also gives us back our trusty crowbar from Half-Life.
