Playing this for MinnMax's The Deepest Dive for August. Halo was one of the first games, like many others, I purchased alongside my Xbox. The only other first-person shooter I invested any time in before was Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64. Even though I enjoyed playing Halo, I reached a point in the campaign that I couldn't get past and then never really played it again. I did play a significant amount of Halo 2 and dabbled in Halo 3's multiplayer.
It was a couple of years ago I picked up Halo again when The Master Chief Collection came to GamePass and gave it another try. I didn't finish it then either. I think I just lost interest. While the game was novel at the time, the genre grew up quite a bit, and going back to it now you can see how far things have come.
It should be noted that I have no idea what difficulty setting I'm playing on. I thought I chose "Normal" but it could be on "Easy." Either way, it feels good. I feel OP like I think an elite soldier like Master Chief should feel.
