In my previous video, I brought up the important 'show, don't tell' rule in storytelling, which advises writers to show the action rather than just tell us about it. I explained how Rage both utterly violates this rule and fails to tell a remotely interesting story. But in this video, I discuss William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', one of the greatest plays ever written. I point out how the meeting between Hamlet and his father's ghost may tell us about the father's murder rather than show it, but Shakespeare still executes this scene of exposition magnificently, infusing it with marvellous language and immense emotional power. Hamlet makes a scene of telling into a gripping and shocking scene, but Rage's telling is just bland and static.

By the way, special thanks to Obscurus Lupa for letting me use some clips from the 'Hamlet the Vampire Slayer' review she did with Oancitizen. Kudos! :)
