Handel - Concerto for 2 Oboes in B flat Major, HWV 67
This is a reconstructed Oboe concerto made from some of George Frideric Handel's Overtures and Sinfonias. Most notably, this reconstruction opens with the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba from Handel's Oratorio, Solomon HWV 67.
In order to capture the unique mellow and arboreal tone color of the Baroque Oboe, the pair of instruments are played with an Alto Saxophone font which best mimics the pastoral feel of the modern Oboe's predecessor.
The second movement is a Sarabande, the third is a Fugal section from Handel's Opera Almira, and the final Hornpipe is from the composer's Concerto Grosso Op.6 No.7 (originally for 2 Solo Violins and Orchestra).
