It's hard to think that, after witnessing the extent of human cruelty, people would carelessly fall into the same traps that put the status quo right back where it started. This week's episode of The Handmaid's Tale made us witness that not only is this possible, but also that Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) was put in a position to realize he has been thoroughly naive. During a recent interview with Collider, Whitford talked about his character's turning point and his impressions of this week's events.
In the episode, titled "Janine," Commander Lawrence finds out that, surprise surprise, New Bethlehem is a lie and The High Commanders are working to essentially perpetuate Gilead and eventually put him on The Wall. During the interview, Whitford commented about the episode with our senior producer Perri Nemiroff and speculated about the aftermath of Lawrence's discovery, as well as how it might have impacted his running into June (Elisabeth Moss) and Moira (Samira Wiley).
