Handplates #20: That Was 90% Gravity (Comic Dub)
It WAS an accident. A...rather... fatal one.... Also, I think you wonderful viewers should read this paragraph that Zarla wrote for this particular scene. It explains how Gaster was able to use some of his healing magic even though he started losing it when he made Sans and Pap:
"Gaster’s previous cruelty and growing emotional detachment by this point should have made him incapable of healing like this, so what happened here? You can think of it as a sort of adrenaline spike, the kind that’d make you lift a car off a loved one. In that dazed, confused state after the explosion, he saw Sans and in that moment all logical thought shut down - the only thing in his head was my child is going to die, I have to save him. The intensity and purity of that feeling was enough to snag Sans from the brink... though not enough to actually heal him. Once Gaster started thinking again, he lost it. This whole incident, in particular why his healing came back and what that means about him and how he feels for these two tools he made, greatly troubled him afterwards."
