Ken Tyrrell managed to have this operation run on virtually nothing (by F1 standards) for 18 years or so. And instead of it completley collapsing like Lotus, Brabham, Larrouse and so on did, he managed to end it on his own terms.

But it's not so much 'they had no money' it was that they consistantly came up with ideas that were good, but couldn't develop because they had no money. The operation was well-run, just didn't have the money to take any ideas to the next level, and as a result stood still as people managed to develop.

So, by the end, they were a bit of a meme. But the DNA runs pretty strong, at least.
