Harmful Park is 20 years old now, which was first released in February 14th, 1997 for the original PlayStation, yet this game takes place in this year, 2017! It's easily one of the most underrated 2d shooting games I've ever played, if not THE most underrated. It's aesthetics are literally stunning, and it has colorful, dangerous enemies for the player to go up against, hence being called a cute 'em up. The game is short, having only six distinct stages in the game, but the game-play is really fun and challenging. There are 4 difficulty levels the player can choose in this.

The weapon system is interchangeable by choosing Potato, Ice Cream, Pies, or Jelly Beans. They can all be leveled up to 4, which is the max level, and they all have different firing abilities. Potato is a vulcan-type weapon, and it's special ability unleashes the potato bomb for clearing out the enemies, while Ice is a piercing-type laser weapon, and it's special ability fires a wave of ice cream. Pie is a powerful throwing weapon, which is really useful for gaining scores by mowing down the line of enemies, and it's special ability fires a spiral of cakes around the character. Finally, Jerry, which is Jelly in Japan, is a homing attack that fires jelly beans, and it's special ability gives the character the invincibility buff for few seconds. All 4 weapons are very useful in different ways, but the Ice and the Pie are both the best if the player gets to aim for high scores.

Unfortunately, this game has only been released in Japan, and there isn't a patch to translate this game into English. I really wish this game would be longer, and more importantly, I wish that it would be re-released in English. Harmful Park is such a wonderful game in my opinion!
