What's up movie buffs, Thanks for coming back to Clevver Movies, I'm Tatiana Carrier and I have the latest on this past weekend's box office numbers.
The last couple have weeks have been ALL ABOUT Transformers: Dark Of the Moon, who stayed put in first place for box office numbers...as you may have already guessed, all of that changed this weekend with a few wizards that literally took over the box office...We reported record breaking numbers in ticket sales before the flick even hit the big screen, so it comes as no surprise to us, that Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2, dominated the box office this weekend.
The Deathly Hallows Part 2 is officially the most successful film franchise of all time, and this past weekend, we saw why. The flick had the top weekend opening of all time at the domestic box office and grossed 168.6 million.
Overseas, the pic opened to a massive $307 million, bringing its worldwide debut to $476 million--the largest on record by far, easily surpassing the $394 million earned by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
In other box office news, Transformers Dark of the moon held on in 2nd, grossing $21.2 million over the weekend for a cume of $302.8 million. Other stats for the weekend include Winne The Pooh who debuted with 8 million in the box office, coming in behind Cars2 which grossed 8.3 million. Finally, Woody Allens Midnight in Paris grossed 1.9 million.
