Happens 1 year after your child is born. At about 6 pm on the same day, you also experience their birthday event. I'm not uploading it because it's about 10 seconds long and you just see them eating at the table. Nothing special.
After your child reaches this stage, when you talk to them in the morning, you can opt to take them out for a walk or have them do chores for you. They can water crops, harvest, milk cows, collect eggs, etc. They'll perform the job quite poorly at first, but as you make them do it more and more, they do it more efficiently. Children do not work on festival days.
When you take your child out for a walk, they will follow you everywhere you go, they just won't enter buildings that you go inside of. Instead, they will quietly wait for you outside. When you enter your house, your walk will automatically end, and you'll receive a prompt message saying you and your child "really bonded well." If you don't take them back home at 4PM, they will automatically be sent back. Just as with the chores, you cannot walk with your child on festival days.
