Went to Walmart and found a cheapy HDMI to Composite video box. Decided to see how it performed and for $15, well whadaya want?
Honestly, while the video quality is meh, what really kills this is the Macrovision pulsing. It's FAR worse than the little distortion that's on the top of most of my Macrovision captures through Component and at 480p, least it is to me.

This is the Peanuts Home Video preview that you probably recognize from my Pied Piper video. Honestly, I should re-record that one yet again.
