Headlander(Critical Eye): Getting A-head in the Genre
Style over substance? That's what Double Fine is known for: but it's a lot less clear in this case.
This key was obtained from evolve.pr for review purposes.
Double Fine hasn't exactly had a selection of hits lately. But Headlander may be the game that was needed to change their fate of making mediocre games. With a game that oozes style over everything else: can it also bring the gameplay to go along with? In this 70s/80s scifi influenced game, can the unique mechanic of vacuuming over robot heads help make a game that helps it standout in the genre? Will the storytelling be fantastic, showing Double Fine's roots in point and click adventure games? Will the sound design be something that you'll want to keep listening to as opposed to hitting the mute button? How many more questions will I ask to help extend the description of this video? Well, let me answer these questions, and more.
I'm not linking to the IGN review. It doesn't deserve it.
