Helpful Tutorial on how to use the Gold Auction House in Diablo 3
tl;dw version (Too long, didn't watch):
Selling:
There are two goals here. Get stuff for as much as you can, or get RID of stuff as FAST and reliably as you can. If you want as much as you can, then thats on you to determine the price you deem fair and want for your item.
For getting rid of items quickly, you want to undercut yourself to give a competitive edge to your gear. You can only have a max of 10 items so you don't want them hogging up space.
A few ways to do this? 1) Simply add a 1 at the beginning or end of the default vendor sale price as the Buyout option. This will ensure a cheap price that anyone can afford and will stand out.
2) Multiply the Level Requirement by 100 for starting bid price and 200 for Buyout price. This will ensure a pretty low price but also a price that will scale with level (And thus quality) of your item.
Buying:
Be very specific. Even if you just want to browse, limit your options of what to browse FOR, and change those options if you care to keep searching. Don't bid on too many things at once as you may end up winning them ALL and not expect to. Fair priced Buyouts are the best option.

Note: Since I know the questions are going to come, Realm declined my video (even though I'm partnered with Machinima) and I'm assuming its because of the tiny red FPS number top-left during intro/outro... whoops! I wasn't gunna scrap the vid entirely though...
