Hennessy Typhoon - Warbonnet Blackbird 1.0 double layer
sunshine - with the raintest looking so dark and not showing off the blackbird 1.0 dl, I thought maybe one with some light on the subjects might be next. For backpacking and under 6 ft, 200 lbs (warbonnet rates it to 260 lbs), I think the Blackbird 1.0 dl is ideal as a great light weight alternative at 130.00.
As a survival hammock, it falls shorts in a few areas. But it's fun sayin "warbonnet blackbird footbox" and is one of the top rated backpacking hammocks out there.
My best nights have still been in my Claytor Jungle Hammock for comfort, but that's my personal choice. You have to make a check list of what you want in a hammock and as unfortunate as it may be, you need to try a few different types to find what's right for "you". Best survival design, DD travel hammocks.. oh wait, that Ajilis is a nice lighter design once modded.. but then the claytor covers best comfort and most survival..oh heck.. see... So many hammocks, so little time.
You have a few choices of tarps with doors these days, at 80 bucks for polyester or 120 for silnylon and with the quality and innovations Hennessy is known for, Thumbs up..cannot see how a Typhoon or Monsoon would not be a good buy! The Hennessy snakeskins work fine over this rainfly with doors still attached.
UPDATE 5/27/11: Looks like the BlackBird 1.0 DL has been discontinued. Making the 1.1DL your next choice in this weight size. At 175.00, Made in USA.
