Hennessy Typhoon - Blackbird 1.0dl - Evernew Appalachian Set Raintest
Not much to add about the Typhoon. pegs out nice and does it's job! Good price and design and around a 1&1/2 pounds.
The gatherend hammocks fit better within the typhoon and both seem to do a pretty good job on keeping the rains at bay. Good setup for casual camping and backpacking although I would not suggest the warbonnet for serious survival use in my opinion. Wonder if they will ever produce a warbonnet with a urethane-coated outer shell to be used as a bivi? (silnylon is "NOT" waterproof) A ground cloth/footprint just would not cut it with this material over time. obviously, in my opinion.
Now if one of the cottage companies would notice zippered breathable gatherends could goto ground if they would make a full length under quilt with a heavier material waterproof outer shell, not really for warmth but for abrasive ground use doubling as an underquilt for a light warmth... woodland would be nice..very compressable to take along like some of the top quilts out there..well.. jus'sayin.. maybe someday..they have everything else out there. I can stick with DD, Claytor and Ajillis till then for camping/survival type hammocks.
More detailed reviews to follow...
