Herbin Bleu Nuit ( https://amzn.to/2IcBwSj ) is a very popular fountain pen ink from one of the oldest ink makers in the world. It has top notch reviews across the board, probably because it's predictable, serious-looking, and easy to use. That said, I've found it to be boring, rather faded looking (though not quite washed out), and somewhat pedestrian.

If your fountain pen is purely a tool and you want an ink that is well-behaved and looks good on a legal document this ink will do the job. For me, it's a bit boring.
