This is Hey! Pikmin, a spin-off game in the Pikmin franchise and it involves Capt. Olimar. The story here is that he’s heading back from another job until his ship gets hit during an asteroid field and crashes on a nearby planet. To make matters worse, in order for Olimar to get his ship repaired he needs 30,000 Sparklium. To get Sparklium, we seek the aid of Pikmin.
As Olimar, you use Pikmin to get items that you can’t reach. We start with Sector 1: Brilliant Garden. This serves as an introduction to the game and gives you an idea of things. In each area, you need to find three items that contain a lot of Sparklium. Of course you find Sparklium by encountering it, defeat enemies, etc. You have your work cut out for you as your goal is to reach 30,000 to get home.
If you’re lucky, you can get access to a secret X area where you really got to find the items. Sometimes you may have to go back to the same area just to get them. At the end of each world there’s a boss but if you know what you got to do, you will manage.
There’s a lot to do and Pikmin Park is where you go to assign specific kinds of Pikmin to areas of the park to find Sparklium. It means micro-management but don’t worry, these guys can handle it only if you put them in areas that are beneficial to them. Example: Red Pikmin can withstand flames and are stronger, Yellow Pikmin are immune to electricity and fling farther, etc.
