Hi-kara (c)2008 Takara Tomy (with 5 song user cartridge) - preliminary MAME emulation
Hi-Kara was Takara's follow-up to the popular e-kara TV karaoke system. Released 8 years after the original e-kara, it offered a built in screen rather than requiring a dedicated TV hookup. The technology itself hasn't changed much from the original e-kara however, and the physical software library ended up being a fraction of the size. This video demonstrates the new emulation of the device, and one of the 'user' cartridges running in MAME. These were blank cartridges that the user could use to transfer songs to from a (long defunct) digital online service. As with all XaviX based devices, the sound emulation is still far from perfect.
