I never did drugs
Because I wanted to be different
No cocaine or pot
No acid tripping expanding my thought
I never drank
Til I was 25 years old
And I haven’t had a drink
In about 3 years all told

I’m high on life

Sometimes it’s like a distance
Between me and people that use
Drugs for whatever reason
Sacred spaces that I’m not privy to
This was moreso back in high school
And in college I felt it strong
In certain tight knit situations
There was no way for me to belong

High on life

Nowadays I hardly think about it
Most folks I know are done with it
My dad smokes weed legally for his back
And he seems to have some fun with it
Sometimes I get invited
To go out drinking at bars
I love to see my friends
But I also like to stare at the stars

And get high on life
