Note: I guess I missed the chance to do a proper passionate "rant" due to my rush of releasing this, whatever's the case, lots of people and big names have been quitting because they cannot handle the way Neil is doing business right now.

"So I understand that some of you are unhappy that the Wraith Cannon is out and that it is stronger than a UGAU. To be honest I can totally understand why you feel this way and I especially sympathize with those of you who bought it just before the end of it's life cycle in early 2015.

However the fact of the matter is that for the game to continue to be financially viable I need to make moves like this from time to time. Around 18 months ago our profit margins were getting pretty thin as interest in drugs (not helped by the ultra boost) and LE items had fallen off a cliff. Re-releasing the GAU-19 was kind of a last-ditch effort to keep things running smoothly. It worked amazingly well and made me realize that the game still had a big future.

But unfortunately that only gave us a temporary boost and by the time we had taken the GAU back out of the shop things were getting a little grim again. The last round of LEs really didn't seem to help much either.

I'm not saying without the UWC the game would die, things aren't that bad. I could always stop advertising (which is by far our biggest cost) and keep things going for countless years on an absolute minimum spend. Heck I'd be happy to keep the sever running at a loss if I really had to. But it would set off a big downward spiral that I think everyone can agree isn't a good thing.

As someone else mentioned, bringing out new stuff every year or two that outclasses the old versions is pretty normal in any business, whether it's virtual items in MMORPGs, DLCs/sequels in single player games, new phones, new cars, this stuff is standard everywhere you look. I see why it sucks, but I do think its a necessary evil.

All said and done, the GAU-19 is no worse than it was before, and it'll still work really well in the new areas. The WC isnt *that* much better. If you don't want to buy it then that's totally fine, I just ask that you don't quit altogether. Regardless of whether you buy anything else again or not, it would be a real shame to see good players quit over something like this.
