Hitman 3 (stylized as HITMAN™ III) is the 8th and latest major installment to the Hitman video game series. It was announced on June 11, 2020 and was released on January 20, 2021.[1] HITMAN™ III is the first game in the Hitman series to be self-published by IO Interactive.[2]

The game serves as the conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy. It was launched with 6 new locations to explore, and owners of HITMAN™ and HITMAN™ 2 are be able to 'import' locations introduced in those games into HITMAN™ III. Additionally, HITMAN™ 2 players are given the option to carry over unlocks and progression into HITMAN™ III.



Plot

HITMAN™ III follows the events of HITMAN™ 2, and will conclude the 'World of Assassination' trilogy.

"HITMAN 3 is the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy and takes players around the world on a globetrotting adventure to sprawling sandbox locations. Agent 47 returns as a ruthless professional for the most important contracts of his entire career. Supported by his Agency handler, Diana Burnwood, 47 joins forces with his long-lost friend Lucas Grey. Their ultimate mission is to eliminate the partners of Providence, but they are forced to adapt as their hunt intensifies. When the dust settles, 47 and the world he inhabits will never be the same again."

Following the events of Hitman 2; 47, Diana Burnwood, Olivia Hall and Lucas Grey continue their mission to take down The Partners and Arthur Edwards. The game begins with 47, Grey, and Diana planning their ambush of the Partners and the Constant in the Burj Al-Ghazali (the setting of the mission "On Top of the World") However, 47 and Grey learn that Arthur Edwards and Alexa Carlisle have already fled the tower, but Carl Ingram and Marcus Stuyvesant are still in the tower. 47 and Grey skydive in to take down the remaining Partners. After the mission, 47 and Grey plan their next move. Meanwhile, Diana receives a call from Arthur Edwards, who gloats about his escape and threatens her with the notion of a new Providence.
