Hogwarts Legacy: Episode 1, En Route to Hogwarts
1Hello everyone and welcome to Hogwarts Legacy! One year after this game's release we are finally jumping into it, and I'm entering it with you all with the rough framework of it as an example of sanctioned fan fiction as a starting point for potential discussion for us as I complete this playthrough. We're starting off with a bit of a longer episode today as we journey from London to Hogwarts with Professor Eleazar Fig. While that should be a simple enough journey, Fig's friend George Osric joins us and brings with him an artifact that opens up much more in the Wizarding World to us before we even get sorted. Let's get to it!
To note as we enter this series, I know there's been contention about the visibility of this game over the past year, and as I say in my introduction, I do not agree with or abide by the perspectives of the creator of Harry Potter that have been expressed over the past few years. That being said, I think it's important to engage with and acknowledge works that are cultural, social, and potentially political phenomena because they have played a part in creating the world as we know it. As well meaning as attempts to erase the Wizarding World are, I think we ignore elements of our shared cultural past that should not be ignored if we do that. That is a large part of why I choose to share this game with you all and foster a discussion around it.
