The Sky is the Limit is one of many Hogwarts Legacy side quests players can complete as optional extra quests alongside the main story. It is the final Hogwarts Legacy broom-upgrade-related quest, enabling players to get a faster and better acceleration broom for quicker navigation of the vast open-world RPG map.
In Hogwarts Legacy, players can fly a range of cosmetic-themed brooms and different mounts. The modding community is also creating a lot of fun mods for players to try, including a Hogwarts Legacy Star Wars speeder bikes mod. However, brooms are currently the only upgradable form of magical transport in the game, and players need to complete the relevant side quests to get the best ones. Fortunately, The Sky is the Limit is a short and not-too-challenging side quest, giving players an even more efficient means of flying around the world map.
To begin The Sky is the Limit, players must first complete the Sweeping the Competition side quest. As soon as players complete it they receive an Owl post from Albie Weekes at Sprintwitches Sporting Needs in Hogsmeade stating the next broom upgrade is ready.
Before speaking with Albie again, players should also prepare to pay a hefty price of 4000 Gold Galleons to purchase the level 2 broom upgrade necessary to start the quest. Be sure to sell any unwanted items at stores like J. Pippins Potions and check the surrounding areas for hidden chests containing gold and sellable items, as there are plenty of locked doors to open in Hogsmeade ranging from level 1 - 3. Buy the level 2 broom upgrade from Albie, where players get their first Hogwarts Legacy broom when it becomes affordable to begin the quest. It's another time trial that involves completing Imelda Reyes' final time trial challenge on the south coast.
Travel to the South Clagmar Coast Floo Flame and use a broom to reach and speak with Imelda by the wooden podium. When players select the dialogue option to begin the race, a 3-second countdown begins, starting the Coastal Broom time trial against the broom-riding dummy.
The Sky is the Limit is the longest and most challenging of Imelda's time trials. However, it's easily beatable as long as players continue to fly through as many boost circles as possible. Otherwise, it's easy for the dummy to catch up and win. There are also a few sharp twists and turns, plus a fairly steep ascent, so be prepared to use all broom flying skills learned so far to beat the time. To win the trial, players must beat Imelda's best time of 2:42:42. Failing to fly through rings gives players a 3-second penalty per ring missed.
After completing and winning The Sky is the Limit time trial, players unlock the Flight the Good Flight achievement for beating all of Imelda's time trials. Players also learn more about why Imelda is fiercely competitive about flying, including her and her family's passion for Quidditch and their connection to it.
After speaking with Imelda, who surprisingly ends the contest on friendly terms, return to Albie at Sprintwitches to report what happened. Albie tells players he'll shortly send them another Owl when his final broom upgrade is complete, giving players the option to buy Hogwarts Legacy's best broom level 3 upgrade for a whopping 7,500 Gold Galleons that increases broom acceleration and speed to the maximum amount possible, completing all 3 Hogwarts Legacy broom upgrades.
Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions are currently in development.
