Introducing our special guest, Andrew Begley!
3:50
The NBA playoff picture - contenders or pretenders? Andrew and Dee disagree on the Raptors, but both would like the see the Blazers push past the Lakers. The Clippers and the Bucks are intriguing, but Dee believes the Celtics are a true contender and can overcome Giannis and the Bucks.
10:38
"How many times do you need to be sent home" - Dee believes that the Rockets will be a disaster against the Lakers in the playoffs, as they have doubled down on a losing forumla. Anthony Davis and LeBron James, will thrive in that matchup
26:15
Featured Player - As part of the classic feature series, Dee wrote a piece on James Worthy briefly discussing his career, skillset, and overall accomplishments. After the piece, Andrew and Dee discuss a trade that almost occurred between James Worthy and Charles Barkley, and more.
41:20
Featured Performance - As part of the classic feature series, Dee wrote a short piece on Kelly Tripuckas 56 point performance against the Chicago Bulls - Dee and Andrew discuss his career, and where it went downhill when he was traded to the Utah Jazz. Dee compares Tripucka offensvely to Klay Thompson.
57:52
Featured Game - Andrew and Dee discuss game 6 of the 1993 eastern conference finals between the Bulls vs Knicks, and how much the game has changed since, as the defense was far better and more intense back in the early 90s, and the effort was high.
1:19:08
Featured Team - This discussion is centered around the 82-83 76ers, who won the NBA championship. They talk about the acquisition of Moses Malone, and how it impacted history. Also, Julius Ervings underrated defense.
1:33:45
Mailbag - Eric Neilson asked what we believe the most overrated stats are in the NBA? Dee believes rebounds, assists, triple doubles in general, and TS%. Andrew believes usage, triple doubles, and agrees on TS%. They discuss the reasons why.
1:41:50
Mailbag - Question from hoopguru on Twitter who asked if the NBA will ever get back to the way the game should be played? Dee believes the stat nerds have taken over, and that the league is only showing signs of moving further and further away from basket, and further in away from basketball in its purest form. Andrew is a bit more optimistic. Dee believes that it needs to start at the youth level.
1:48:00
Mailbag - Question from westfanclubceo on Twitter. How do you think the NBA can better involve fans be more educated on the history of the game? Dee talks about how the NBA and the media want and need the masses to be focused on the now game, but believes that more actual discussion on debate shows (Skip Bayless, Nick Wright, Shannon Sharpe, Max Kellerman, etc) and by the media in general could help educate people. Andrew agrees, and thinks that there is a big backlash against nostalgia at the moment.
1:56:50
Worst Twitter takes of the week segment: Max Kellerman took a shot at Steph Curry, stating the Lillard shows up in big moment, while also implying that Steph Curry does not. Dee talks numbers and examples of why this is a ridiculous case, including talking about the 2019 Western Conference Finals where Curry dominated Lillard. Andrew agrees, and discusses why the media is pulling this.
2:03:52
Worst Twitter Takes of the week segment: Honsyy on Twitter states that Brandon Ingram is better than Larry Bird, and doubles down on it. This bothers both Dee and Andrew, as Honsyy has a following on Twitter, and a large following on youtube. Both Dee and Andrew breakdown why this take shouldn't see the light of day.
2:12:15
Worst Twitter Takes of the week segment: B3 Training KC on Twitter stated that Magic Johnsons handle was pathetic, and this really got to Dee as this person has a follwoing on social media, and is a D1 basketball trainer, and teaches hoop to grades 1 through 12. Dee and Andrew talk about how Magic utilized his handle perfectly, why his handle wasnt poor, and why overdribbling doesn't make someone a great ball handler.
2:19:40
Final Buzzer - Andrew plugs his socials and what he is currently working on, as does Dee, and they close the episode.
