Hornby R9290 James the Red Engine (From Thomas and Friends) Review HD
Here is my review and unboxing video of the Hornby OO gauge model that is James The Red Engine from the Thomas and Friends Range that Hornby is producing until the end of 2018 after 33 years of production of this range of model trains since 1985.
This is the post-2016 model that is tender driven and is DCC ready via the 8 pin socket. The model does look good and the quality is grand as I prefer the Hornby James model to be honest because of this.
I have tested the performance this time with a nice long and HEAVY model freight train to really put the James model train to the test of its haulage capabilities and guess what? James seems to be able to handle the 27 freight cars on this freight train quite well with only a few minor wheelslips here and there even if he needs a wee hand to get him started.
All in all I am impressed with this model even if the detail is basic because it is a nice model from Hornby and I would try and get this model before the end of the year if you can find one because they are getting harder to find brand new and as 2018 is the final year of the Hornby Thomas and Friends range after 33 years of production.
