Imagine opening a book and, before the first page, it warns you: 'This is not for you. Now imagine that, as you read, you start to feel that the things around you… have changed. The wall seems closer. The light seems dimmer. And then you realize… maybe the book is reading you too.
House of Leaves begins with Johnny Truant, a broken man inside, finding the manuscripts of an old blind and reclusive man, Zampanò. These papers talk about a documentary that… maybe never existed. A documentary that shows a house where the internal space is bigger than the external one. A house that grows inside. And the more Johnny reads, the more he gets lost. Just like us.
