I was asked a long while ago by a fellow House of the Dead player if I could somehow disable the in game flash when the trigger was pulled. After many many months and many different approaches I finally found a solution and packed it into a simple lua script. Now you can spray away at zombies without getting a seizure.

Update May 12, 2021
After a few weeks of learning how to use Ghidra, I found the function that calls the flash background. The new script is merely a single byte patch and replaces the flash function with a different function that removes it. Unlike the patch that Pugsy created on the mamecheat forum, this one has no adverse effects on the chapter title screens as this patch is solely for the trigger flash.
