How British Medics Are Fostering The 'Special Relationship'
For the first time a British Army officer is on the validation panel for a coveted US Army training course.
The Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB) is hard to earn and only 30% of American medics wear it.
The typical EFMB Expert Field Medical Badge pass rate is less than one in five.
Now Britain and other countries are involved in a key test once open only to US personnel.
The test validation panel’s first British officer, Lt Genevieve Froehlich said:
“It’s obviously an honour to be invited by the Americans because it is quite a prestigious badge in their army. Across the forces world it is a well known symbol for those in the medical profession.”
Senior test validation panel member Major Jason Hughes said:
“I can’t see another operation in our future where we’re not standing shoulder to shoulder with our UK allies, you know, they’re one of our most important allies. When we were in Iraq, when I was there I served with the UK, same with Afghanistan. These type of events keep that relationship strong.”
