Raid based battle royales, also called extraction shooters, look to be the next upcoming trend in gaming. The first, and so far most successful games, are Hunt: Showdown and Escape from Tarkov. There are a hand full of games still in their early stages of development, such as Marauders and Dark and Darker, but it will be some time before they reach their potential.

This video is to talk about the ideas that led into their creation, with a brief history on Battle Royales. From there, I talk about what ideas both Hunt and Tarkov established that are now starting to propagate through the industry, which developers both large and small are trying to recreate.
