0I need some money quick. And I also need my land tilled in preparation for a hay crop. So I thought why not take on some tilling contracts and eventually use the tractor and tiller on my lot.
Here is what I found out
Tilling is tedious and time consuming
The equipment needed to cover big swaths of land fast is costly
If you get the season wrong, you will be running at a loss
Did I make a profit? I doubt it. Did I enjoy it, not really. But I can’t deny the fact that I gathered skills and got to till my own small lot of land with a tractor I would otherwise not afford to lease.
Should you take on tilling contracts - Definitely, if you have your own equipment.
