How Much Video Game Time Should We Give Our Kids? - Talking Opportunity Cost With My Son
How much video game time should we give our kids?
Today I was talking with my son about Opportunity Cost which is the 4th principle of economics. The price of something we want is what we are willing to give up to get it.
Most video games are not great because they often rely too heavily on a design philosophy centered on Operant Conditioning and even Skinner Boxes.
Why then would we spend our time and money so often on things that are not good?
I'm not here to hate on gaming. I've loved video games for a lot of years. But, I love them a LOT less now than I ever have. And that's because I've grown tired with their design philosophies.
