How Sekiro Elevates Combat // Game Analysis
This video analyzes Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. I talk a little bit about how Sekiro captures the rhythms of combat familiar from cinematic representations of great duels, such as we find in Star Wars or older samurai movies like The Hidden Fortress. I also make the case that Sekiro has the most sophisticated combat system that FromSoftware has produced to date, both in regards to offensive and defensive aspects of its swordplay.
All gameplay footage was pulled from my Steam Deck. If you're curious, Sekiro tends to run on the Deck at a solid 50 frames per second on high settings. (Although for various reasons I capture footage at 30 frames per second.)
