18This video discusses the theme of difficulty and punishment in Celeste (2018) and video games more generally. Celeste is pretty unique, in that it can be brutally difficult but also unusually forgiving. This produces an interesting situation where it is easy not to notice exactly how hard Celeste really is, because it refuses to punish you for your mistakes, so that you will probably lose track of just how often you fall into fail-states in your efforts to overcome its demanding platforming challenges.
