How to adjust straps on a Fjallraven Kanken backpack

Unsnap the straps and pull them out so they're no longer "double straps". I guess it's supposed to be common knowledge/logic, but I spent way too long trying to figure this out. So, I hope to save the confusion from anyone else...

I eventually saw a post on ask.fm that said what to do, but it wasn't totally clear.

I have seen one Kanken review where the lady reviewing it wasn't sure if it was supposed to be unsnapped or not.
