How to Backup & Restore WhatsApp Messages on iPhone
Backing up and restoring WhatsApp messages on an iPhone is simple, as it primarily uses your Apple ID and iCloud for this process. This video explains how to back up and restore your WhatsApp chats on an iPhone using these steps.
To start, open the WhatsApp app on your iPhone. Once inside, tap on the "Settings" tab, usually located at the bottom right of the screen. In the Settings menu, select "Chats," and from there, you’ll see an option for "Chat Backup." Tap on "Chat Backup" to view your current backup status. You’ll see the option to back up your chats to iCloud by selecting "Backup Now."
Make sure that your iPhone is signed into your Apple ID and that you have enough iCloud storage to save the backup. Note that WhatsApp on iPhone does not support backups to Google Drive, so iCloud is the only available option. Once the backup is completed, all of your messages and media will be stored securely in your iCloud account.
To restore your chats, when you set up WhatsApp on a new iPhone or after reinstalling the app, you’ll be prompted to restore your chats during the setup process. Make sure that you are logged into the same Apple ID that you used for the backup, and that the phone number associated with WhatsApp is the same. When prompted, select the option to restore your chats, and all your conversations will be downloaded from iCloud.
This method ensures that you can back up and restore your WhatsApp messages easily whenever you switch devices or reinstall the app. It’s important to regularly back up your chats to avoid losing important conversations and media files.
