Nobody likes suffering, pain or struggle. But there is a valuable lesson I recently picked up from @therealbrookecastillo @evypoumpouras and @jordan.b.peterson while enjoying this stunning sunset @grandhyattkochi

It's actually the same lesson, over and over again: without struggle you can't get stronger.

Just like building muscles in the gym, you have to challenge yourself, do hard things, and expand in order to become a strong human being.

As a woman some challenges are unfair. Some are brutal (looking at childbirth lol). But tell me about a hard time in your life that you survived, and didn't get stronger from? Wait, let me tell you about a hard time in my life and how it made me stronger.

I cried many nights in my Bangalore room, while I missed my friends & family back in the Netherlands. My first years in India were so brutal, even though I had much help from angels like @bettina_melendez Sasha @neeshthapunj @romiconrevola and many others.

In the dark nights however, I was alone. My inner demons constantly told me that nobody wants me here, I can't do this, and I should just go back to my plushy comfort in Amsterdam.

But in the middle of such a dark night, I'd always tell those demons to stfu, even through my tears. When the sun rose the next morning I'd talk to my forever rock @lovemesomenadine , wipe my tears and to take on a fresh day.

Thinking back on fighting through those dark nights, makes me comfortable taking on new challenges today. Yes I'm scared. Yes I hate struggle, suffering and pain. But without facing them you just end up a meek soft person who doesn't live her true life.

So how to be a strong woman? Face your struggles in whatever way you can manage. Cry, shut up nay sayers, get angry at the inner demons, but fight for what you feel you deserve. In the end you'll probably surprise yourself the most of what you're capable of.

Happy womens day to all my beautiful ladies out there🤍
