Brash's record is 1:15.00 so that is the time that you need to beat. Either dying or trying to cheat using the level's Warp Barrel to reach the end will result in a time too slow to beat the record.
As you can see in the video there are a few parts where I get momentarily hung up & lose a couple seconds as a result, but even then I still beat the level with almost 10 seconds to spare. I recommend swimming underneath the green Koco underneath the red Buzzes (follow the bananas).
