Steps:
Start by clicking the âApple logoâ in the top left corner.
Choose âsystem preferencesâ from the menu that appears.
In system preferences choose ânotifications & focusâ.
Choose âfocusâ at the top.
Click the âplus iconâ in the bottom left.
There are a few focus presets you can choose, or you can choose âcustomâ.
Create a name for your focus mode, then pick a color and an emoji.
Click âaddâ.
Click on âoptionsâ to the right of âallowed notifications fromâ.
Here you can choose to âallow time sensitive notificationsâ or not by checking or unchecking the box.
If you tap favorites you can choose whether to allow calls only from your favorite contacts, only from your contacts or from everyone.
If you don't want to receive calls from anyone then you can uncheck the box to the left of âallow calls fromâ.
You can choose whether you would like to allow repeated calls in your focus mode. If you check this box, when someone calls twice within a three-minute time period their call will come through, instead of being silenced.
Click âokâ to save your choices.
With âpeopleâ highlighted you can tap the plus at the bottom of the box to allow notifications from specific contacts.
Select a contact and then click âaddâ.
Highlight âappsâ at the top and then click the plus icon to add apps that will be allowed notifications in your focus mode.
Select an app and then click âaddâ.
You can also remove apps and contacts from being allowed by selecting them and then tapping the minus icon.
Below âturn on automaticallyâ you can click the plus icon to add a time based, location based, or app based automation.
Doing this will mean that your focus mode will turn on at the specific time or location that you choose, or when you are using an app that you select.
For a time-based automation, select time based and then choose the days and times that you would like your focus mode to turn on.
To add an app based automation, choose âapp basedâ and then choose the app that you would like your focus mode to turn on when you use and click add.
Now when you are using that app, your focus mode will automatically turn on.
You can add multiple focus modes with different specifications by tapping the plus at the bottom.
You can remove a focus mode by selecting it, clicking the minus icon at the bottom and then clicking âdelete focusâ.
