If the HDD is physically damaged this method is not applicable.

1. Remove PS3 SATA HDD
2. Plug it into a USB 2.0 SATA to USB enclosure
3. Go into Disk Management
4. Right Click and Format the Drive to NTFS
5. Reinstall SATA HDD to PS3
6. Format for PS3 and Update to latest firmware
