then look for the following registry key or keys
PendingFileRenameOperations
use F3 to search for more entries
Next search for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\RebootRequired
backup key first, then delete the key and try shutting down or rebooting.
