How to Get 20+ Stimpaks at the Start of Fallout: New Vegas

After getting shot in the head at the start of New Vegas, we are healed by a Doctor in Goodsprings known as Doc Mitchell. This start to our journey is a great way for characters to get a good jump on medical supplies needed for the Mojave Wasteland but you have to have the right skills for it at the beginning. We will be going over how to get at least 20 stimpaks at the beginning of New Vegas before leaving the good doctor's house. To start out let's look at the SPECIAL I used for this. On in depth Playthroughs this is what I typically run, Strength at 7, Perception at 5 Endurance at 9 for all the implants. Charisma at 1 since it's pretty useless. Intelligence at 5, Agility of 6,and luck of 7 which I will get up to 8 with the Luck implant that will allow me to bankroll the Casinos. However, your starting SPECIAL doesn't matter so much, just as long as at the start you have speech over 30 and medicine between 20 and 30. For tag skills, I like to go with speech, which makes it above 30 for me after traits, explosives for the easy pete check needed in Goodsprings, and guns because that's all I like to use. For traits I like skilled, for 5 extra points to everything and you should be alright with just that trait for this, leaving an open trait for you. I chose good natured which moves points from weapon skills to non weapon skills but this isn't needed. The doctor walks you to the door, hands you 4 stimpaks and sends you on your way. What you want to do next is start a conversation with the Doc and find the 30 speech check. He will give you three extra stimpaks. Leave the conversation and across from the bed where you were nursed back to health, is a today's physician which will momentarily raise your medicine up by 10. With a medicine skill over or at 30 you can do another skill check in which he says the same thing. After he's done talking, scroll back down to the bottom and you will find another 30 speech check giving 2 more stimpaks. You need to do this before you leave. After talking with him, we can find a science station where with a science of 25 you can create 5 stimpaks or some other drugs in game. To the right of the station is a 9mm machine gun with which you can repair with a repair skill of 25. On the shelves you can find 3 more stimpaks. This puts our total stimpaks at 20. There are two first aid boxes which have randomized loot. If you have the courier's stash you will have 5 more stimpaks, three super stimpaks and 3 doctors bag. There is also a doctor's bag on the floor next to the nursing bed. Before leaving doc Mitchell's house, I had a total of 26 stimpaks, 3 super stimpaks and 4 doctor's bags.
