The video paints a bleak future where humanity has become too reliant on advanced technology and prosthetics that, before, were hailed as marvels of humankind's progress. Advanced prosthetics had put an end to disabilities. Professional athletes augmented their bodies and reached levels of speed and strength normal humans could never achieve.
But, as fiction has taught us, advanced technology inevitably will go wrong. The trailer says as much with its ominous opening quote, "Mankind's greatest mistake will be its inability to control the technology it has created."
The footage takes a stark dive, with riots in the streets, and interviews with people denouncing the scientists who "play god" and weaponize humans. The trailer leads up to and ends at 2060, which hints Black Ops III could place at that time.
