The sword is stuck in a rock (like an Excalibur-in-a-stone trope) atop a mount northeast of the Monastery safe zone.
The nearest safe spot is Camping Tower in the National Park region; from there you climb to the mount to reach the sword’s position.
To be able to pull out the sword, you must collect all 8 Stone Sigils scattered around the map of Castor Woods (some in Old Town, some in Villa, etc.).
The Void: Go southeast of the Monastery, to a waterfall. Behind the waterfall is a cave; dive in a pool and collect it.
The Moon: Near the waterfalls; climb up ledges, find an opening, hidden camp, on a stone in that camp.
Witch's Mark: In a cabin near a river bank east of the Mountain Shelter Tower safe point.
Sacrifice: In a cluster of stone slabs (pillars) in a clearing, usually east of the Witch’s Mark location.
Blood: At the fountain in the courtyard of St. Valentine’s Asylum.
Curse: Find a dead tree with exposed roots near the Memorial Hill of Heroes. Skeleton nearby; the sigil is in its mouth.
Death: In Old Town, inside the Church crypt. It becomes accessible after the main mission “The Beast Within”
Shadow: In the Exile’s Cave (Villa area). You must progress to main mission “Some Like It Dark” to unlock access
Once you have all 8 sigils:
Travel back to the rock formation northeast of the Monastery where the sword is lodged.
Climb up (using rocks, vines, branches) to reach the altar/setup where the sword sits embedded.
Place each of the 8 sigils in the “star-shaped fixtures” / slots around the sword.
Doing this will trigger a big undead / elite enemy spawn. Defeat it.
After defeating the enemy, interact with the sword and hold the interact button for some time (it takes longer than typical pickups). Pull the sword out.
