How to learn Rook overdrive mode

2One of the ways to learn Rook involves around character being in Nul state for (x) element while enemy targets said character with (x) element.
That way, a character "deflects" magic attack from an enemy.
One basic example is having Iceproof equipped and fighting Ice Flan in Lake Macalania. Every time he casts Blizzara, and because Iceproof grants Immunity to Ice magic; you will deflect or negate that spell.
Here is an example of Yuna having SOS Nulblaze eqipped in a battle where enemies' attacks are fire based. Because they are fire based, every time they use their flamethrower, that same element (Fire) is deflected / negated.
