I have a new video updated to 1.2.3. Click here to watch:\nhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqC4Xk3Ypx0\n\n1.0 Video (Shorter)\nhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihfPYODXTcE\n\nThis video will show you how to make a minecraft server on a mac. This has been tested by me on Minecraft beta 1.8.1.\nThis will also work on Minecraft Beta 1.9 Prerelease 1,2,3,4+ as long as you get an updated "minecraft_server.jar" that is for that version, also anyone joining has to be on the same version.\n\nHere are all the links-\n\nMinecraft_server.jar: \nhttp://www.minecraft.net/download\n\nTerminal command: \n\n#!/bin/bash\ncd "$(dirname "$0")"\nexec java -Xmx1G -Xms1G -jar minecraft_server.jar\n\n*I recommend using the code from this site, just scroll down and you will find it, it just won't give you any problems:\nhttp://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutorials/Setting_up_a_server *\n\n\n2nd Terminal Command:\n\nchmod a+x (remember the space at the end)\n\nHamachi:\nhttps://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/download.aspx\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------------------\nIf you have any questions, please ask me in a comment, PM, or even video response. But please ask a question, not just: I did this and got this, even give me the time in the video where you are stuck, ect. I will be able to help you much better if you give me more information to work off of.\n---------------------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nHaving Trouble?\nWatch This:\nhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWm1IFeJ0XE\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nQ & A:\n\nQ.) The "Start.command" file is not loading correctly\nA.) This also happened to me, first of all make sure none of the files are named differently than the ones in the video, second make sure you correctly give the file permission (That is the chmod a+x thing), third make sure there are no spaces at the end of the command, it would be easier to copy the command from here, because it has no room to copy an additional space: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutorials/Setting_up_a_server\n(Scroll down and find the Mac section and look for the code)\nFinally, make sure you make the command "plain text" as shown in the video, that will make it properly runnable, and make sure there are no other files in the "server" folder and those are the only two files in there.\n\nQ.) I can't open the server.properties, help.\nA.) Click here 7:28\n---------------------------------------------------------------------------------\n||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||\n---------------------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nHere are some written instructions if you are still confused:\n\nSetting a server up in Mac OS X is "more involved" than in Windows because Notch has not provided an executable. For a full video tutorial click here. Keep in mind that the server won't run correctly on OSX 10.4 and may crash your machine.\n\nDownloading\n\nEnsure you have the latest server application software. Look under "Download the Minecraft Server" above for instructions.\n\nInstalling Java\n\nMac OS X already comes with its own version of Java that is updated automatically via Software Update (Apple menu \ Software Update).\n\n Setting up the Minecraft Server\n\nEnsure you have followed the download step before proceeding. \nCreate a folder, if you haven't already, and put minecraft_server.jar into it. For example, create a folder on the Desktop named minecraft_server and drag the jar file into it. Open TextEdit, set the format to plain text (Format \ Make Plain Text), copy and paste in the following code, and save the file as "start.command" in the same folder as minecraft_server.jar.\n\n#!/bin/bash\ncd "$(dirname "$0")"\nexec java -Xmx1G -Xms1G -jar minecraft_server.jar\n\nThis will give the server enough RAM to run. The amount of RAM can be changed by editing the 1G to something else, such as 2G for 2 GB. Open Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities/Terminal). Type in "chmod a+x " , with a space after it, then drag and drop the start.command file into the terminal window, then press enter. (This gives run permission to the script.) \nDouble-click the start.command file to start the server.
