Always Board Never Boring wanted to make a spiritual weapon miniature for his games of Dungeons and Dragons. The spiritual weapon is a magical floating hammer, so he decided to craft one using green stuff and a stormcast eternal hammer from Games Workshop. This video shows the whole process, including painting the miniature for use in games. You could use a similar process to make elemental weapons, vine blights, monsters with tentacles or anything of that nature.
