How To Make a YouTube Channel in 2018? In this guide for beginners, we’ll break down the best way to create your channel for success step by step!

1. The first step in starting your new youtube channel, is to click the sign in button. If you have a gmail account go ahead and sign in. If not, you can create an account on this page. Click the more options link and then click create account. Fill out your all your personal info and sign up.
2. Now, go back to youtube. Go up to the top right of the window and click your account icon and then click creator studio. The creator studio is where you will do pretty much all your youtube video work such as uploading your videos and thumbnails, editing your channel art, viewing your stats, and adding tags, descriptions, and other elements to your individual videos. This is the area we’ll cover here as that’s where you’ll put together all the pieces to make your channel.
3. Click on create a channel, and in this video click on ‘use a business or other name. Here you will be given the option to name your channel. My first tip for when creating your channel name is to make it kind of catchy, easy to remember and spell. Also, be careful when picking your name as it’ll define your channel and content, and you won’t be able to change it again once you’ve set up your account! So let's say I make a channel and call it GamerGeorge, my name indicates that I play games. But if I made content about food, people will get confused and so will YouTube if I want my food videos featured on its search engine. So if you’re unsure what content you’re going to create, try not to pigeon hole yourself into making your channel name based on a specific topic. I would consider naming my channel something more broad in this case, like my name: George V
4. Next step is to select a category for your channel. When it comes to selecting a category, pick the option that feels closest to the content you will be creating. For Filmora we chose People & Blogs, because at the end of the day, we love to vlog and thats how we represent our content! So once you pick your category click ‘I agree’ and then done. Alright, now lets check out our channel. The dashboard is where you can see some stats like number of views, subscribers, comments and so on. This will be so helpful as your channel grows.
5. Underneath of your account name, click the ‘View Channel’ link - here is where you can upload and change your channel art. Click on Add channel art, and this is where we can upload your banner, also called channel art. There will be some presets in the gallery section. and you can upload your own banners. Your channel will look very empty and it will be daunting to start designing it on your own. That’s why if you’re totally new to design but want some really cool banners, don’t worry we’ve put together 50 free design templates, in both jpeg and photoshop files, that you can use to make your own awesome banner right away! You can download them all for free by clicking the link in the description box below. These templates all indicate a logo safe area, which is where you want to place your text so that it shows up properly when uploaded onto YouTube.
6. After you’ve got your banner, you’ll want to add a custom logo so people can identify your channel’s brand. To do that, go up to the smaller square and click the pencil icon and you will be taken to google plus. You can upload your photo here, find the photo and click upload.
7. Alright, now let's upload our first video. You’ll be taken to the upload video page. Click the arrow icon, find the video you want to upload, select it and open it.
9. One thing you should do is create thumbnails for your videos. Today thumbnails are more important than titles, and maybe even the video. They are the first thing people will see so you gotta make it look good in order for people to entice people to watch your videos. Make sure you have your title and a nice image or still from your video. Also try to make your thumbnail and video title work together, where the thumbnail is used to offer a bit of extra value for the viewer searching for videos to watch.
