About this video: This video goes over the exact methods that you can use to start making money from YouTube and turn YouTube into a full time job. I have been able to consistently do YouTube full time for years, and it isn't because of YouTube ad revenue. My revenue comes from affiliate marketing and sponsorships creating an income that is much more stable than YouTube partner advertising revenue.
There are four main ways that YouTuber's make money. The first is via YouTube Advertising revenue. This is the normal YouTube partner program, and it is typically how most content creators first get into making money on the platform. This revenue ends up being unstable. It can swing widely month-to-month. Because of this, most content creators also use other methods to make some money.
One of these is affiliate revenue. For me and my channel, this has been it's biggest asset and revenue producer. Affiliate marketing is where you take and recommend a product with a link. If someone goes and purchases that product through your link, you get paid a commission at no additional cost to the purchaser. This type of monetization is great for YouTuber's who have videos that rank well in search engines over time.
The next way to make money from YouTube in order to turn it into your full time job is through merchandise sales. This has become an increasingly popular way to make money from YouTube. Tons of content creators from Jake and Logan Paul to even Phillip Defranco generate tons of money from their merchandise sales. This type of YouTube revenue is best for channels that have a large subscriber base that continues to come back to their channel over and over and over again.
Lastly, sponsorships are another great way to monetize your YouTube channel and stabilize revenue in order to do it full time. Some content produces charge $10,000+ for a one video sponsorship, and they do at least 4 per month. Now, most channels aren't going to be getting those rates, but even an extra $400/month can help make rent when ad revenue dips down.
My best advice is to use a combination of these methods. The more income streams you have the more stable things will be. If you are just relying on one way to make money from YouTube, there is no way you will be able to do it full time. If, however, you diversify and have multiple income streams from YouTube, your revenue will be more stable and doing YouTube full time won't be an issue.
